My mosaics are not only beautifully and artistically designed and crafted, but they also become a functional part of the house, protecting walls and other surfaces from water damage and other types of wear and tear. They are built and installed to last, made with very high quality, earth friendly materials. They turn any ordinary space into a conversation piece, adding value and character. They are uniquely designed with each client in mind so they become very personalized expressions of style within the house, making you feel at home in, as well as inspired by, the space you live in. If you are remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, you will be inspired by the limitless possibilities of mosaic backsplashes that can either become an understated feature to highlight another aspect of the design, or set the tone for the entire room
Mosaics are great for:
Kitchen and Bathroom Backsplashes
Entryways
Fireplace Surrounds
Ordinary Walls
Garden Pavers
Outdoor Sculptures
Benches
Tables
Frames around mirrors
Business Signs
Murals in Public Spaces
How Mosaics Are Made:
Mosaics are made by piecing together many small parts to form a design. Some of my favorite materials to work with are: ceramic tile, colored glass, marble, granite, mirrors, stones, seashells, marbles, pieces of metal and broken dishes. Once the pieces are glued in place, the gaps between the pieces are filled in with grout, a cement-like substance, which brings the pieces together to form a unified design.
Mosaics can easily be made to be waterproof and able to withstand freezing and thawing if they are going to be outdoors year round.
How To Order a Custom Mosaic:
Please contact me to order a custom mosaic or if you have questions or ideas.
For all installations, I make an initial visit to the site to take measurements. I like to spend some time in the space where the mosaic will be, so I can really get to know its colors, its energy and its function. I like to talk in depth with clients about what they envision. Clients can be as involved in the design process as they would like to be. I create the design in my studio and transfer it to cement backer board. I then email a photograph of the design to the client for review. Once the design is approved, I make the mosaic in my studio and bring it to the site to install it. Installation typically takes two days because of drying time for adhesives and grout. One week later, the mosaic is sealed with a waterproof sealer and any electrical switch plates are replaced. Photos of the installation process can be found in the gallery.
Pricing:
Mosaic prices are determined by the following factors:
-Size
-Intricacy of design
-Materials
-Difficulty of installation
-Flexibility of timeline
An estimated price will be given at the initial visit, and this price will be finalized with a contract when the client approves the design.
My Customer Service Philosophy:
It is important to me that you love your mosaic and that its design, colors and energy work together with your décor to create the ambiance you want to achieve in your home, garden or office. I am flexible, creative and energetic when it comes to different types of projects and designs. I cannot envision a project that would be too big or too small, so please do not hesitate to ask me. I always work with clients in a professional yet personal way.
My Business Values:
I strive to create mosaics that:
-Build community, inspire creativity and spark conversations
-Are unique and personalized to the client and his or her style and space
-Are durable and last through time and weather
-Protect walls or other surfaces from water damage and other types of wear and tear
-Are environmentally responsible, using recycled objects if appropriate
-Produce very little waste
-Are made from materials bought from small, local businesses whenever possible
