Custom Designed Mosaics

Introduction to Mosaics
A six week course designed to introduce students to the art of mosaics, offering inspiration from the work of a variety of brilliant mosaic masters. Students will learn how to select materials for different types of projects and will become comfortable with different techniques for breaking and piecing together tesserae (tile pieces) to form beautiful designs. Students will have the opportunity to work with ceramic tile, natural stone, pottery, glass and found objects. Bring your project ideas! All materials are provided. This course is a great way to get the tools and information you need to make mosaics on your own in the future.
Class Schedule: Wednesday Evenings from 6-8:30 pm
Dates: April 16, 23 & 30, May 7, 14 & 21
Cost: $225 (includes all materials as well as one free Open Studio session- see below)

Mosaic Stepping Stones
Pre-requisite: Introduction to Mosaics or equivalent mosaic experience. This class is also open to students taking the April-May Introduction to Mosaics course.
In this one day workshop, students will create a beautiful, functional stepping stone to be placed outdoors in a garden or patio area. We will be pouring cement into molds and this gets messy so please wear old clothes. Stepping stones will be available for pick-up beginning 3 days after they are made. This class is ideal for those who want to complete a project in one day!
Class Schedule: Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm
Dates: April 19 & 26, May 3, 10, 17 & 24.
Cost: $50 per session, or $255 for all six sessions (includes all materials)

Open Studio (Monday Evenings-Ongoing)
Any student who has taken a course and would like to continue working on a project (or start a new one) is welcome to come to Open Studio on a week by week basis. Materials, as well as a creative and social working environment are provided. Help is always available during this time. The cost is $10 per hour. You must register at least 24 hours in advance to hold your place by sending Christine an email.
Schedule: Monday evenings from 6-9 pm
Cost: $10 per hour (one hour minimum)
